Food certificates are documents that attest to the quality, safety, origin, and other attributes of food products. They play a crucial role in the global food market by ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and meeting consumer expectations. Below, you will find some of the latest updates and news regarding the certificates that ViskoTeepak holds. For more detailed information, please visit our website or contact your local ViskoTeepak sales representative.
Religious certificates
Viskoteepak holds two main religious certificates: Kosher and Halal. The Kosher certificate is required by Jews, while the Halal certificate is essential for Muslims. These certificates confirm that the products are clean and suitable for religious food applications.
In some countries, religious certificates are so important that exporting goods without one issued by a recognized religious organization is not possible. Malaysia is one such example. The Malaysian government (JAKIM) publishes lists of organizations authorized to issue valid certificates for the Malaysian market.
In October, JAKIM announced that certificates issued by the organization HFCE would no longer be accepted for the Malaysian market due to issues encountered during auditing. Since HFCE was the certifying Halal organization for both the Brno and Lommel plants, the directive to halt exports was unexpected.
Responding swiftly, ViskoTeepak began exploring alternative solutions to HFCE. One such alternative, the Halal Quality Control (HQC), emerged as a potential new partner. Although we had no prior cooperation with HQC, our initial contact suggests they are professional.
In the end of 2023 audits will be conducted at both the Lommel and Brno plants. If the outcomes are positive, we anticipate receiving the new HQC certificate early next year.
