Innovation Center receives Marel FRANK-A-MATIC

The development of our innovation center began in 2021. It’s a place where we develop our Tailor-making capabilities and productive solutions. The latest addition to our facility is the Marel Frank-A-Matic (LK450) machine. We asked Filip Veselka, ViskoTeepak’s Wienie-Pak Product Manager, to explain more.

How did this cooperation begin?
It all started with an investment in our Innovation Center when the management of ViskoTeepak decided to build a test house for testing Wienie-Pak products with meat. After the Innovation Center was completed, an article was published about it. This article caught the attention of Marel’s chief engineer, who shared it with his management.

Marel was so impressed with our Innovation Center that they asked to visit it personally. The visit by the sales director and a technician from Marel to our Brno plant took place in the summer of 2023. During this meeting, they appreciated our Innovation Center and the knowledge our company’s technicians had about Frank-A-Matic stuffing machines. Following the visit, they immediately offered us cooperation.

Marel offered ViskoTeepak the latest stuffing machine, the Marel Frank-A-Matic, free for a 12-month period. We immediately agreed to this offer and fine-tuned the terms of cooperation.

What benefits does this cooperation bring?
For ViskoTeepak, we can test our products on the latest technology in the market. We will continue product development to meet customer requirements. The machine will also help us detect issues we have never been able to test before, such as casing jams, which occur when part of the filled casing gets blocked in the chains.

For Marel, the main benefit will be receiving feedback on how the machine works, its limits, and where we see room for improvements that would help develop the machine further. Also, Marel occasionally brings in customers interested in buying a new machine where we always participate and, at the same time, present our products.

What else?
The machine is easy to operate. Its perfect design ensures constant conditions, product uniformity, and consistent stuffing length and weight for the final product. This machine also has several new features, such as slowing down the filling for the first portion to ensure trouble-free filling from the beginning of the strand.

The machine is now installed in our Innovation Center, where we are educating ourselves and becoming familiar with it. I believe 2024 will be an excellent year to share our knowledge with other ViskoTeepak employees. Thanks to this cooperation, ViskoTeepak’s product quality will be top-notch, and our technical team will strengthen their knowledge, which will be further utilized in the market.
